Aboard Our Oyster 56

Santa Marta Colombia

By Andy Hilton | January 19, 2016

Left Rodney Bay in St Lucia on Saturday 16th January with 32 yachts in the fleet.  Exciting start with everyone together then winds dropped and we all endured a rather slow but enjoyable sail to Colombia.  Just off the Venezuela coast we were buzzed by the Venezuelan coastguard overhead.  They were obviously happy with us in their waters and left to check out the other yachts.  We were greeted by fishermen as we entered Colombian waters and once again arrived at our destination in the dark.

Wildlife spotted in Columbia include Condor, Sea Eagles and Pelicans.  Leave Colombia on Wednesday 20th January for the San Blas Islands in Panama.
