Aboard Our Oyster 56

The Journey’s End – Our Return to Ipswich via Plymouth

By Andy Hilton | June 13, 2017

We, (Andy, Tom, Josh and Brian) left Ponta Delgada at 10:23 on the 9th May 2017. the engine worked fine and we motored out back into the Atlantic, our last time fighting this amazing ocean. We had pleasant and favourable winds and appart from the odd cargo vessel that either ignored us or got in our way we had a very good voyage back to the UK. By 09:17 on 17th May we’d tied up on the A pontoon at Yachthaven Marina in Plymouth. After a very brief and efficient checking in we quickly made our way to the bar and availed ourselves of a pint of Tribute, Brian had Guiness! We stayed only one night in Plymouth and as we had a very good weather window we decided to cast off and head for Ipswich. Arriving without incident at 16:15 on Saturday 20th May 2017. Journey’s end.

We celebrated with a pint, or two of Adnams Bitter in the Fox’s cafe and bar.

Total GPS nautical miles from Ipswich to Ipswich 34,418nm. Phew!

Now what???????????
