French Polynesia

After leaving the Galapagos we arrived in the Marquesas, it took us 21 days to reach land across the miles and miles of Pacific Ocean. The Marquesas scenery is dramatic and lush (with heavy rain nearly everyday) the waters teeming with wildlife. We visited 4 of the islands; Hiva Oa (where Paul Gaughin lived and painted), Tahuato, Ua Pou and Nuka Hiva (where some of the crew had tattoos!). Beautiful scenery and friendly people are lasting memories including swimming with manta rays. We then went to the Tuamotus Atolls which were amazing. Friendly people, beautiful crystal clear waters, reef sharks everywhere (swam with them everyday), amazing diving and snorkelling. Traded 3 packets of cigarettes, a lipstick and a pair of sunglasses for a handful of pearls!
Now in Tahiti for a few days to stock up with provisions, going to Moorea then the Society Islands.
Looks like less tacking than Barton!! Your broads boat still afloat untouched by us ! Managing to fit in some sailing amongst harvest- across the board and back – not able to imagine 21 days at sea!! Cheers James and Suzanne
